Non Biking Questions:

What is your day job? Retired from Walmart where I worked on Women’s Economic Empowerment
What is your proudest accomplishment? Biking 100 miles on the Katy Trail in October just after I retired
What is your favorite non-cycling activity? Reading and Rotary Club
What kind of vacations do you take?  (bonus: if you had to spend all of your vacations for the rest of your life in the same place, where would you go?) We like to travel everywhere.  We just returned from a trip to Zion, Bryce and Death Valley National Parks where we hiked 5 to 7 miles a day and saw spectacular scenery.   We seldom travel to the same destination twice as there is too much of the world yet to see –at least another 100 countries.
What is your favorite movie and/or book? Most recently I enjoyed reading The Goldfinch.
What was one of your first jobs? Assistant to the secretary of the county extension office where I learned to stuff envelopes quickly.
If you were guaranteed to be successful in a different profession, what would you want to do? I’m now an adjust professor and enjoying learning how to best share knowledge with college students.
Name something (a product or service) that you love so much that you’d happily be that company’s national spokesperson. TripAdvisor!  I love the reviews; I love writing reviews; and find it helpful when planning trips.

Biking or GBB Questions:

What are some of your earliest memories about bikes?  Do you remember your first bike? My first bike was a second hand bike which my dad spray painted gold to freshen it up.  After college one of my first purchases was a bright blue Schwinn road bike.
Why is riding with GBB important to you? Riding with GBB challenges me to go further and faster.  Left on my own I’d still be poking along.
What brought you to the sport of cycling?  Do you have a road bike or mountain bike? (or both?) I’ve always loved cycling – the freedom it brings.  When paths started popping up in Bentonville I was back biking.  I now try to use my cruiser for my everyday errands including riding downtown to shop, eat, go to  church or piano lessons
What is your favorite bike route? Why? I lobbied for the multi-use path in front of Peel Mansion and was thrilled when it was built as it made biking and walking to Walmart possible. I like the North Bentonville Trail with the loop around Lake Bella Vista, into Blowing Springs and home up the Crystal Bridges Trail.  That’s my go to ride
If you could ride ANYWHERE in the world, where? I’ve heard there is great biking in France and Ireland.  We lived in Beijing for a number of years and so we already have China biking under our belt.
What advice do you give to women who are new to riding a bike?  Or thinking of starting? Just try biking.  Come to our Thursday GBB ride and join town ride.
What is your biggest cycling goal? To use my bike for as much as my daily transportation as possible.
What cycling accomplishment are you most proud of? Riding 100 miles on the Katy Trail in October.  It gave me a lot of confidence to know I can travel 40 miles a day.

Ride Safe and Have Fun!
